cereal is disgusting

without comments

i’m apparently the only one who feels this way, but it is…it’s not real food…it’s extruded sugared corn sludge, which people for some reason soak in milk to revert it back to sludge form…it’s impossible to eat without resulting in nauseating backwash…the varieties that don’t smell like fruit-scented air fresheners smell like hamster food…

its near-universal popularity is, to me, a complete mystery…everyone says it’s because it’s convenient, but how is it quicker than fruit or yogurt or toast? you know, actual food?

cereal was invented for babies and invalids…in other words, people who can neither chew nor digest their food properly…as a kind of primitive similac/ensure…and the fact that people who can eat normally nevertheless choose to eat like those who can’t is, to me, a sign of the infantilization of american society…
